Dry Ice Demonstration
So cool it's hot - sorta. Dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide) has amazing properties. We'll make spooky horror-movie fog, crazy bubbles with "smoke" inside and make metal objects scream from the cold.

FAQS
Who is the best audience for a Whiz Kidz party?
Kids aged 5-12 with a curiosity for science, or science that looks like magic!
What if my child is still 4, does that mean we can't have a Whiz Kidz party?
Yes, you can have a Whiz Kidz party! With younger kids, we need help from parents. It's quite difficult to get a dozen 4 or 5 year-olds all doing the same thing at the same time, so we ask that some parents help us with the hands-on activities.
How long is a party?
We do a 60-minute hands-on show. The timing can vary if the kids ask a lot or just a few questions. If you include an add on (Rocket Launch or Dry Ice) it lasts a few minutes longer. We will work with you to fit our show into your party.
When should we ask the kids to arrive?
Please ask the kids to show up at least 30 minutes before our show time. People tend to run late, so giving them at least 30 minutes to arrive and get settled is super-helpful. Also, we really don't have a lot of time to wait around past our scheduled start time. We often have another event right after yours, so we need to stay on schedule.
What geographic areas do you cover?
Our science lab is in Haverhill, MA and do parties on the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, Seacoast, Boston, Metrowest, South Shore, Southern New Hampshire, Southern Maine. If you're far away from our home-base, a transportation charge may apply.
What is my role as a parent during the party?
It's very helpful for a few parents supervise the kids while we are performing. While it does not happen often, some kids can be a little rambunctious and disrupt the event. Having a few parents handy does wonders for those kids. We are here to entertain the kids, but not supervise them.
What do you need from me?
Space for the kids to sit - inside or outside. We usually have them sit on the floor, deck, patio or grass. We also need a small table to put our equipment on. It can be a card table, coffee table, picnic table etc. For indoor parties, access to electricity is helpful. We will need parking - nothing special but we don't want to get blocked in at the end of our performance. We often have another event to get too.
What's the cost of a Whiz Kidz Birthday Party?
The cost depends on several things; How many kids are we entertaining? When are you having your party? How far away from the lab, in Haverhill, MA, is the party going to be? Do you want one of our big finishes like a rocket launch or dry ice demo.
We'd be happy to quote you - please just let us know as many of the specifics as possible.
What about tipping?
If the kids enjoy the show, please feel free to tip your Party Engineer. He will surely appreciate it!
How messy is the elephant's toothpaste experiment?
It can get a little messy. The result of the chemical reaction is warm soap suds (from dishwashing detergent) with some food coloring in it. The foam is nice and warm so the kids love to put their hands in it. This is a great experience for the kids - they absolutely love it. We can do it inside or out. We would not recommend doing it on carpeting.
When I book a party, how much of a deposit do I need to give you?
We like to get a $100 non-refundable deposit when you book a party. Unfortunately, when we have a last minute cancellation, we're usually unable to rebook that time on short notice. If you have something unexpected come up, like the party child getting sick, we will bend over backwards to reschedule your party. We accept cards and checks for party deposits. (Since about 65% of the people who want to send a check, get busy and forget, we'd prefer a card over the phone)
What if I want a special, custom party?
We are happy to work with you to craft the perfect party experience for your child. We've done spooky Halloween-themed parties, paper airplane-building parties and more. There is a charge for creating that custom event based on the time, materials and work it takes to create exactly what you want.
Can I book a rain date?
We generally don't book rain dates, but we've had little trouble rescheduling a party that couldn't happen due to weather. We have done parties in garages, under decks and under protective trees (really!).
